Music Teaching & Performance
Helen has taught music privately / in West Wales Schools
since 1999 and is a member of the
Incorporated Society of Musicians (ISM).
Helen studied Music and Education
with Trinity College Carmarthen / The Open University,
graduating with Bachelor of Arts (honours).
In 2002, she gained the Certificate of Teaching with ABRSM.
Helen has performance qualifications in
piano, singing, saxophone, clarinet and violin
and has performed these disciplines in
various classical / modern ensembles.
Helen has also played pop/rock/jazz drums in various groups
and was a member of Tenby Brass Band in the early 2000s.
She is Music Leader at Hebron Baptist Church.
Helen enjoys playing impromptu informal piano recitals in quirky places and has performed TV themes at Basildon Park (filming location for the 2013 Downton Abbey Christmas Special), the RIBA short-listed Birmingham Library and St Pancras International Station. In summer 2016, Helen spoke about performing and teaching on BBC Radio 4's The Tim Vine Chat Show.
Art & Design
Helen later returned to Open University achieving
BA(hons) Humanities in 2010 and
BSc(hons) [Design & Technology] in 2012.
Other Interests
Since 1998, Helen has been a
Youth Work Volunteer at Hebron Baptist Church.
As well as leading weekly activities for young people,
she organises the annual Holiday Club, providing songs,
crafts, games, artwork, interactive PowerPoint quizzes,
set design/construction and puppet shows.
Helen also produces media resources for the church,
its website and international charity fundraising events including quiz nights and car treasure hunts.
